The media, including advertising, plays an important role in shaping and reflecting gendered images, positions and stereotypes. Men and women are still too often portrayed traditionally in the media - women and girls as objects and men and boys as subjects. The porno-graphization of the public sphere is a new issue being discussed both among politicians and within research in Norway.
Technology is gendered as well and is an issue for gender research in Norway. The availability of ICT to all citizens, regardless of gender, disability etc is another research topic. How infrastructures and technology relate to gender equality in society is a question to be raised in the political arena.
