Databases of women scientists are an important strategy to promote women in science and to increase the percentage of women in top-positions in the scientific field. This publication offers an overview of existing databases of women scientists and a catalogue of high quality criteria. KILDEN, Norway participated in the project funded by the European Commission 6th Framework programme.

Women in science is a resource bank for those who work for an improved gender balance in the university and college sector, and those who are interested in issues on gender equality in science. Women in science is primarily a collection of Norwegian resources, but also points to relevant resources outside Norway.
