Forum for Women and Development (FOKUS) in Norway
FOKUS is a resource centre for international women's issues and a co-ordinating organ for women's organisations (NGOs) in Norway. The goal is to strengthen co-operation between women’s organisations in Norway in their international involvement and co-operation, contribute to the social, economic and political empowerment of women through international project co-operation and exchange of knowledge, and raising awareness on the situation of women in a global perspective through public relations and information activities. FOKUS is financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) through framework agreements for information and grant provision.

Violence Alarm
In co-operation with the then Ministry of Children and Family Affairs and the then Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and the Police has developed an alarm system for women who are threatened with violence. The alarm is offered to women who have been seriously threatened or have proved to be in a vulnerable position. The initiative for this project was taken by the then Gender Equality Council.
